Lost Souls Of Syonan-to
During World War II, when the Empire of Japan occupied and ruled Singapore, it was officially known as Syonan-to. Tens of thousands of local people were killed during this occupation. This photograph, Lost Souls of Syonan-to, explores the philosophical and religious concept of transmigration. The Koi represent those who died during the occupation in 1942; fading into the darkness of uncertainty, going from one state of existence or place to another.
